Treble Choir & Glee Club
An April 19 concert features the Appalachian Treble Choir and the Appalachian Glee Club performing in Broyhill Music Center's Rosen Concert Hall at Appalachian State University.
The program begins at 8 p.m. Dr. Priscilla Porterfield directs the treble choir. Elizabeth Hill provides piano accompaniment. Keith McCutchen directs the glee club. Lisa Runner is the accompanist.
The treble club will perform "They Have No Song" by Mary Goetze and "The Wind and the Amfalula Tree" by Sarah Elizabeth Vaughn and with accompaniment by cellist Corina Relyea. Other choral works include Dvorak's "Moravian Duets, Op. 32," Emma Lou Diemer's "Alleluia" and Richard Nance's "Set Me as a Seal" performed with horn player Karen Robertson.
The glee club will perform "Round, Round, Round About a Wood" by Thomas Morley, "Come Thou Sweet Love" by John Dowland, "Danny Boy" arranged by Erick Lichte and "Sigh No More Ladies, Sigh No More" by Robert Washburn as well as other choral works.
The combined choir and glee club will perform the traditional English folk tunes "Down by the Sally Gardens" with mezzo-soprano Priscilla Porterfield and tenor Randall Outland and "King Arthur."
