Registration for New Students (Virtual Private Lessons)
Welcome to the Community Music School! If you are new to private lessons with CMS and would like to begin by trying out a 4-lesson package, please follow the steps below to register.

BEFORE registering:
- Agree with your teacher on the day, time, and length of your lesson. (If you have not yet gotten in touch with your teacher, please see our Private Lessons page and email asucommunitymusic@appstate.edu to connect.)
- Read the Musician Handbook, including the supervision requirements for minors under 18.

- If you do not have an Iris account, you will need to create one (tutorial here)
- If asked for a code, enter "21CMSOnlinePrivateLessonsFallNew".
- Each student must be registered separately. To register another student in your family, click “Create Additional Registration”.

Consent Packet Required Before Beginning Lessons (Students Under 18)
- For students under 18, a parent or guardian will need to submit the Consent Packet, now available online through Dynamic Forms, in order for the student to begin attending online lessons.
- Please submit the Consent Packet 2 business days before your first scheduled lesson time so that it can be confirmed before your lesson.
- When creating your account, double-check the accuracy of your information (as Autofill may have populated some fields for you).
- The Dynamic Forms account and Consent Packets must be under the parent/guardian's name for the form to be valid.
- Please contact Carrie Henderson (hendersoncf@appstate.edu) at Conference and Camp Services for questions about the Consent Packet and Dynamic Forms.
Optional: Media Release Form (All Ages) - Participants who would like to participate in recitals or concerts (which may be recorded and broadcast) will need to submit a Photo/Video/Sound Release Form. (En Español). For minors, this form will need to be signed by a parent/guardian.
Adding More Lessons
- If you finish your first 4 lessons and would like to continue, please discuss with your teacher how many more lessons you would like to add for the Fall semester. (Fall lessons will need to be completed before December 10, 2021, so please consider your schedule, the teacher's schedule, vacations, etc. when deciding how many lessons to add.)
- You will not need to pay the $25 registration fee again to add more lessons to your order.
- Your teacher will email Carrie Henderson, who will add the lessons to your Iris account and notify you that your order has been updated.
- To confirm the addition of more lessons, you will log in to https://appstate.irisregistration.com and pay for the remainder of the semester package.
- If paying for the rest of the semester’s lessons at once is not feasible, Carrie can help you order your additional lessons in two installments.
- If you wish to apply for tuition assistance towards additional lessons, please email asucommunitymusic@appstate.edu. Tuition assistance applications may take up to 2 weeks to be processed, so please begin the process early for best results.
We invite you back to join us for future semesters! Returning students will register for a full semester at a time.
