Dr. Rodney Reynerson is a full professor of piano in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. Since 1980, Dr. Reynerson has taught applied piano (undergraduate and graduate), class piano, and accompanying. Before joining the faculty at Appalachian State, he served as an Associate Professor (1977-1980), as Instructor at Indiana State University(1973-1977), and Associate Instructor (1971-1973) at Indiana University School of Music.
Throughout his career, Dr. Reynerson has been an active member of several professional organizations, including the North Carolina Music Teachers Association, Pi Kappa Lambda, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. His dedication to teaching has led many of his students to successful careers in music. He has prepared students for auditions at top music schools such as Rice University, Florida State University, Oberlin College, Indiana University, and University of Cincinnati. Additionally, he has mentored twenty-four winners of the Appalachian State University Concerto-Aria Competition and has had students achieve success in various competitions nationally. His contributions to the field of music education are widely recognized, and his impact on his students' careers is a testament to his expertise and commitment.
Dr. Reynerson holds a Doctor of Music and a Master of Music (both with High Distinction) from Indiana University. He earned a Bachelor of Music (magna cum laude) from Murray State University.
