Scott Wynne is the director for the Gilley Recording Studio and Associate Professor for the Music Industry Studies degree with a concentration in Recording and Production at the Mariam Cannon Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. In addition to his regular teaching responsibilities, Mr. Wynne designs, installs, and updates the recording and production facilities for the four recording studios and 2 labs associated to the Hayes School of Music recording and production area. His install and design experience have benefitted numerous facilities in both the professional and educational fields including but not limited to Appalachian State University, Farthing Auditorium, Florida Atlantic University, Grizwold Theater, University of Miami, and the Aspen Music Festival and School.

Wynne also has the distinction of being a member of the Edgar Stanton Audio Recording Institute(ESARI) of the Aspen Music Festival and School for the past several years having worked in several positions for the 8 week internationally renowned classical music festival.

In 2011, Professor Wynne served the Institute in the capacity as the Head Media Engineer and worked on projects in collaboration with a Media Broadcast committee consisting of professional musicians, administration, music directors, and conductors to help broaden and improve the broadcast visibility of the festival concerts. During these summer weeks Wynne collaborated, assisted, and produced with Aspen Public Radio, Aspen Ideas Festival, Colorado Public Radio, Minnesota Public Radio, and Fred Childs of National Public Radio's Performance Today program. A large portion of the 52 concerts and events Wynne was responsible for during the eight week summer festivals were broadcast live to a variety of local and national entities and other committee-identified concerts have been chosen to be broadcasted to the national and international communities on National Public Radio(NPR) as well as the European Broadcast Union(EBU)

Mr. Wynne is a recording engineer, music producer and composer whose commercial music credits include the Hunger and Health Coalition's yearly Christmas CD Christmas in the Mountains, Appalachian State University's Marching Mountaineers CD, Gypsy Harvest's Syncopated Synapse CD, Lost Ridge Band's CD, Seed of Faith (DVD), Kerrie Roberts's EP Lose It, Michael Zager's book Music Production, the 2005 Burlington Coat Factory Christmas television advertisements, the rock/reggae/funk band The People UpStairs (TPUS) premier CD Synchrofunkinicity. His classical CD recording credits include performances by Robert Falvo, Dr. Heather Coltman, Dr. Irena Koffman & Andre DeGroot, and also chamber ensembles directed by Arthur Weisburg. Live broadcast credits for radio have included Marc Andre Hamelin, American Brass Quintet, Jupiter String Quartet, Aspen Opera Theater Company, Emerson String Quartet, and orchestras conducted by some of the world's premier conductors such as David Zinman, Jeffery Kahane, Jap Van Zweden,

Graduates from programs that Mr. Wynne has taught for have gone on to have successful fulfilling careers in independent and commercial studio facilities as well as private independent endeavors. Students graduating from the program can be found in major cities of the United States including New York City, Los Angeles, Nashville, Chicago, New Orleans, Atlanta, Portland, Philadelphia, Miami, Fort Lauderdale, and Orlando as well as the local North Carolina cities of Raleigh, Charlotte, Asheville, Greensboro, Winston Salem, and Wilmington. Students work in a variety of fields best suited to their personal interest and can be found in all facets of the industry including the typical fields of music engineering, post production, voice over, and independent music production as well as auxiliary fields of live sound reinforcement, mastering and touring website music festival broadcasts.
