A new month begins, and we realize the semester is flying quickly. This week's highlights include our annual Faculty Potpourri, a concert featuring solo and chamber performances by HSoM faculty (Tuesday night at 8 pm in Rosen).
Faculty and Staff Business
- As we gear up for the piano technician search, John Parham will continue to provide tuning and minor repairs for our piano inventory. To request John's work, please use the following website link: http://apps.music.appstate.edu/node/add/piano-work-order
- In advance of colleague Greg Simmons' (Learning Technology Services) presentation to the full faculty on Friday, please see the following website for information regarding online options during weather-related delays and closings: https://winterize.appstate.edu/
- At its January 29 meeting, the University General Education Council approved the HSoM's proposal to include MUS 2052 Exploring Music Therapy in the Liberal Studies Experience.
- There will be a meeting of the Search Committee for the 3/4 time Music Education position Wednesday, February 3, at noon in the conference room.
- Recordings of the November HSoM ensembles performances at NCMEA in Winston-Salem are now available on a SoundCloud site: https://soundcloud.com/hsom-asu
- Sydney Dehus recommends the following procedure—adding a profile picture in Gmail.
- With Apps Mountaineer Gmail, you can attach a picture of yourself or your instrument, or an icon that could be associated with your name: 1) Select the Settings gear icon on the right side of your Google screen, 2) then navigate to the General tab and scroll down to My Picture to upload your photo of choice. (Due to many faculty, students and staff with the same name but different initials, it can be tricky choosing the correct person when typing a name in the "TO" field of the Apps Mountaineer Gmail.) Give it a try, compose an email and type your name in the "TO" field to see who comes up in the search. Here is the link for uploading a photo: https://apps.google.com/learning-center/tips/gmail/#/show-tip/add-profile-picture-to-emails Or visit our ASU GoGoogle site: http://gogoogle.appstate.edu/training-support
