We'll have both "lion" and "lamb" versions of March this week—60 degrees on Wednesday, high 20s with snow on Thursday—as we look forward to ASU's spring break. The HSoM concluded its audition season on Saturday, and we'll see in these coming weeks just who will be part of the fall class of 2015.
Faculty and Staff Business
- Chancellor Everts's office has notified us of a scheduled ASU alumni event in New York City on Wednesday, April 1, from 6:30-8:30 pm, at the Appalachian Loft. If you or any students will be in New York on that day, please let me know so I may request an invitation for you.
- ASU's CareerFest has been rescheduled for Tuesday, March 17, 2015. For more information, including a complete list of participating organizations, the majors and types of positions they are recruiting, visit:careers.appstate.edu/careerfest. About 15 employers, such as Hanes, Lowe's, Whiting-Turner, and Transportation Insight to name a few, will be conducting on-campus interviewing the Day after CareerFest on Friday, Feb. 20. Students must be present at CareerFest to secure an interview, as employers are scheduling interviews the day of the event.
- Please consider participating in this year's STEAM Expo (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics) on April 22. The event will host more than 2500 visiting 6th– 10th graders for this exciting event! There are many ways to participate: a "booth" on the Holmes Convocation Center floor or concourse highlighting your App State University STEAM projects/research (hands-on activities are very popular!), a 45-minute demo in the Student Union, or a 45-minute tour of your lab/facility. If you (or a student organization you advise) would like to participate in any of these ways, please complete the on-line registration: www.ncache.appstate.edu/steam-expo-2015/presenter-and-demo-registration

Kudos and Other News and Events
- Thanks go out to all faculty, staff, and students who made our audition season so successful. As usual, our building was full on these five Saturdays, with almost all HSoM faculty members meeting, auditioning, and interviewing potential students for the incoming fall class. Special kudos are deserved by Associate Dean Jay Jackson, who coordinated the days and met nearly every auditioning student and family member, Janet Seatz, who scheduled all 300+ auditionees, and Music Therapy student Shelley Mccluskey, who organized student volunteers and ran the information table so ably.
With best wishes for week eight of the spring semester,
Bill

**If you'd like to have something included in future iterations of these announcements, please send me an email with "announcements" in the subject line. Please feel free to send me information about artists (HSoM colleagues and others) who will collaborate in faculty recitals. My listings here sometimes miss those details. I'll be happy to add family/personal announcements, too. Please submit announcements as pdf's or in plain text, unformatted (no special spacing, bullets, etc.). Please include hyperlinks as appropriate.
**Please send information about upcoming off-campus performances and presentations by faculty and students. I'll include them in this "HSoM On the Road..." section.
