This is a short three-day week following our four-day holiday. The calendar is full, with events every night until classes end on May 3. This weekend brings us the 22nd Annual Appalachian GuitarFest and Solo Guitar Competition.

 

FACULTY AND STAFF BUSINESS

*The Visual Art Exchange of Raleigh is looking for performers, artists, and performance artists to perform for the duration of the gallery’s open hours one day in July 2017.  Deadline: May 28   For more information: http://vaeraleigh.com/exhibitions/2017/3/5/under-pressure-call-for-art

*For members of Pi Kappa Lambda: The Pi Kappa Lambda induction breakfast will take place May 4th at 8:30 A.M. at the Faculty/Staff Dining Hall in the Roess Dining Hall. The cost for the breakfast is $12.50 and annual dues are $20. Payment for both may be put in Andrea Cheeseman's box. The deadline to submit payment for breakfast is April 17th. Checks should be made out to Pi Kappa Lambda.

Deans' Student Advisory Council meets Wednesday, May 3, at 5 pm.

Cornocopia (the horn studio recital) occurs Wednesday, May 3, at 8 pm, in Rosen.

Thursday, May 4, is Reading Day.

 

KUDOS AND OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS

Violist Daphne Bickley, student of HSoM faculty violist Eric Koontz, received an honorable mention at the NC ASTA Strings Solo Competition last Saturday, April 15th, on the campus of the UNC School of the Arts in Winston-Salem.

Alumnus guitarist Justin Hoke, MM '10, will make his Wilmington Symphony Orchestra debut on Saturday, April 22, performing Brouwer’s Concierto Elegiaco.
