This is our last full week of classes. Concerts continue through next Wednesday, May 3, bringing total performances in the Broyhill Music Center to over 170 for the 2016-17 academic year.

The Low Brass Studio Recital occurs Wednesday, April 26, at 6 pm, in the Recital Hall.

Gospel Choir performs Wednesday, April 26, at 8 pm, in Rosen.

String Chamber Ensembles perform Thursday, April 27, at 6 pm, in the Recital Hall.

The AMTSA benefit concert occurs Friday, April 28, at 8 pm, in Rosen.

HSoM Commencement occurs Friday, May 12, at 2 pm, in Rosen Concert Hall.

 

KUDOS AND OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS

Music Education Program Director Susan W. Mills has been accepted to the the Fulbright Specialist Program, part of the larger Fulbright Program established in 2001 by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The program is for U.S. academics and established professionals to engage in project-based exchanges at host institutions across the globe.  The program will include travel to the University of Zululand in South Africa this summer and to two other destinations during the next three years.  

HSoM students Ethan Garner (tenor) and Rachel Davis (bassoon) have been named as finalists in the 2017 Rosen-Schaffel Competition for Young and Emerging Artists, to be held on July 30, as part of An Appalachian Summer Festival.

HSoM performance senior Emily Arbour has been selected as a member of the 2017 Lake Junaluska Singers http://www.lakejunaluska.com/events/singers/singers_auditions/
