Announcements, March 20, 2017

We're back after ASU's Spring Break, ready for the last six weeks of the semester. We'll enjoy numerous concerts, symposia, our annual opera production, the conclusion of this year's faculty searches, Guitar Fest, and many opportunities to celebrate 2017 graduates. Meanwhile, Boone weather will continue as per normal, meaning we won't know quite which season we're in.

KUDOS AND OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS

HSoM string faculty members Nancy Bargerstock and Eric Koontz traveled to Pittsburgh for the American String Teachers Association National Conference during the first four days of March. They were accompanied by string students Lindsey King, Chandler Fadero, Maya Hughston-Brown, Miranda Mahanes, Gina Sane, and Nicolas Allion. The Hayes School of Music string group offered a presentation at the conference, "Chamber Music: The Bedrock of Large Ensemble Success," in which the students performed string ensemble literature as their professors led a public discussion on the value of chamber music in building string orchestra programs in the secondary schools as well as university systems.

HSoM alumnus Trestan Peck Trestan has just been appointed 2nd Trumpet  in the Cairo (Egypt) Symphony Orchestra. He has been teaching in Cairo for the past two years.
