Comparatively speaking, the Boone area avoided the worst (or best, depending on your point of view) of the blizzard, though the University closed operations Thursday evening through all day Sunday. But we've dug out, and our activities and events are back on schedule, at least until the elements provide a next round of environmental entertainment. Nothing is forecast, so we'll keep our fingers crossed.

- The HSoM Endowed Scholarship Recital occurs Thursday, January 28, at 8 pm, in the Recital Hall.
- Saturday, January 30, is the HSoM's third audition day for selecting the incoming class for Fall 2016.
- The HSoM "Faculty Potpourri" concert occurs Tuesday, February 2, at 8 pm, in Rosen.

- Harmonia Baroque performs on Sunday, February 7, at 4 pm, in Rosen.
- HSoM ON THE ROAD and AROUND CAMPUS (upcoming)
- HSoM faculty oboist Alicia Chapman, musicologist Reeves Shulstad, and pianist Jonathan Asbell, '13, will present Wonders and Woodwinds, a concert of fairy tales, fables and classical music. This is the inaugural event for "Mini Matinees: A music and theatre series for families" presented by the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum on Sunday, January 31st at 2 pm.
- The ASU Saxophone Quartet, consisting of Andres Orench, Mitchell Powers, Luke Taylor, and Darby Teander, will perform at the Ohio University Saxophone Quartet Summit in Athens, Ohio on Tuesday, January 26.
Kudos and Other News and Events
- HSoM graduate voice student Jason Nichols placed first in the Metropolitan Opera District Competition held in Columbia, SC on January 23. He will next compete in the Regional Finals, scheduled for February 7 in Atlanta.
