James Lodin is a collaborative pianist in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. He has enjoyed rehearsing and performing with the Appalachian Opera Workshop in productions including Copland’s The Tender Land, Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, and Kohn’s The Trial of Susan B. Anthony. He is also the pianist for the ballet class in the Department of Theatre and Dance. In addition to his work at App State, he is the Director of Music at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church. 

Born and raised in California, Lodin has a BA in Music from Claremont McKenna College.  Before moving to Boone in 2021, he held positions as Director of Music at Peace Lutheran Church in Tustin, California and as Organist at Our Lady, Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Newport Beach, California.
