Mrs. Sally Booker has been named the Arts Production Specialist for the Hayes School of Music.
Previous work with Appalachian State University includes collaboration with the Opera Program, and as a pianist for faculty and student recitalists. Prior to moving to Boone, she was the Director of Music for St. John’s Church in Duluth, Minnesota, the instructor of Elementary Music and Children’s Chorus for St. John’s School, as well as a Voice and Piano Instructor for the University of Minnesota-Duluth. In the Fall of 2016, Mrs. Booker accompanied a lecture-recital at the BassEuro convention in Prague.
In the past, she was a Lecturer for Texas State University-San Marcos where she taught Aural Learning, was a collaborative pianist, and was an Opera Coach for the Texas State Opera. While residing in Texas and Minnesota, Mrs. Booker has performed in concert with faculty members and students of all levels. Mrs. Booker received her Masters in Vocal Performance, and her Bachelor Degree in Piano Performance from Texas State University-San Marcos.
Sally has performed on and off the stage as a soloist, chorister, rehearsal and performance pianist, and as part of the directing and teaching staff. Some highlights include; Semi-finalist for the Heafner-Williams Vocal Competition in 2017, Gretchen in Hansel and Gretel, Chorus in Amahl and the Night Visitors, Chorus in Wizard of Oz, soloist for University Chorale, Co-Music Director and conductor of Grease, Assistant Music Director and orchestra pianist of Annie Get your Gun, and pianist for the following ensembles of Texas State: University Singers, Hill Country Youth Chorus, PASIC, Orchestra, and Wind Ensemble. Sally was also a soloist and chorus member of both Chorale and University Singers during her studies. With over 20 years of collaborative, directing, and performing experience, Mrs. Booker is at home on the stage as the vocalist, pianist, or in an ensemble setting. She resides in the Boone area with her family.
