After a three-day weekend, we're enjoying a set of mild-weather days here in the High Country.
Faculty and Staff Business
- At this Friday's Performance Seminar (1 pm in Rosen), following a few student performances, we will mark the 99th anniversary of Mariam Cannon Hayes's birthday with words from HSoM Advisory Board Chair Kay Borkowski and former dean Bill Harbinson. Faculty and Board members are urged to join students for the occasion, which will be followed by light refreshments in the lobby.
- Please consider contributing cash toward a New Year's gift to thank our housekeeping staff here in the building. Contributions may be dropped off with Lynn Beebe, Lauren Hayworth, or Janet Seatz in the Dages Administrative Suite.
- Please see the attached file that includes information about the Graduate School's Graduate Research Assistant Mentoring (GRAM) Program applications. Jennifer Snodgrass has offered to speak with anyone interested in applying.

- CANCELED: Alumna cellist Alex Boatwright will perform in recital on Thursday, January 22, at 6 pm, in the Broyhill Music Center Recital Hall. — This recital has been canceled. Please watch for details regarding a rescheduled date.
Looking Ahead
- Dean's Advisory Council meets Tuesday, January 27, at 11 am.
- Deans' Student Advisory Council meets Wednesday, January 28, at 5 pm.
- The annual Endowed Scholarship Recital will occur on Thursday, January 29, at 8 pm, in Rosen Concert Hall.
- The HSoM full faculty meets on Friday, January 30, at 11 am.
- HSoM faculty violinist Nancy Bargerstock and faculty pianist Rodney Reynerson perform in recital on Friday, January 30, at 8 pm, in Rosen.
- Saturday, January 31, is the third day of auditions to select the Hayes School of Music's incoming fall class of 2015.
Kudos and Other News and Events
- Bill Harbinson's composition for brass and percussion, The Maestro's Flourish was accepted for publication by Cimarron Music Press (CT). The composition, dedicated to emeritus music faculty Dr. William Gora, won the Dallas Wind Symphony Fanfare Competition in 2005.
