On-Campus Audition

If you choose an In-Person Audition, your audition process will consist of the following parts

  • Part 1 - submission of video recordings of required repertoire in your MyMountaineer portal. Here are guidelines for recording your audition videos. In general, your recordings are due 10 days before your audition date. A specific due date will be provided after you have selected an audition date.
  • Part 2 - on-campus visit where you will play your technique requirements for our faculty, sight-read a short musical excerpt, and have a brief conversation with our faculty so that we can get to know you better. During the audition day, you will also complete your theory and aural skills assessments. The aural skills assessment will include pitch matching, singing a simple scale, a short memory recall of a melody, and rhythmic sight-reading. Music Education, Music Therapy, and Composition/Theory Students will complete their degree interview as well. Currently, Appalachian State University's Face Coverings Policy requires face coverings while indoors on University property.
