Dr. Catherine Garner, an assistant professor in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University, is a distinguished collaborative pianist and Director of Collaborative Piano. As an educator, Dr. Garner has held faculty positions at East Carolina University and currently coordinates the keyboard faculty at Appalachian State University. She is dedicated to fostering her students' growth and development, creating a dynamic learning environment through her expertise in collaborative piano.

Dr. Garner's career highlights include solo performances with prestigious orchestras and ensembles such as the Louisiana State University Orchestra and the Tallahassee Symphony Orchestra. She has served as a staff pianist at international summer programs and participated in renowned music festivals across the U.S. and Europe. 

Dr. Garner currently serves as a member of the artistic board for the Center for Collaborative Piano, a summer music festival committed to furthering the education of collaborative pianists with chamber music by underrepresented composers. She has three published recordings: Monuments, 21st Century American Flute Sonatas, and Saloons, Salons, and Salutations

Dr. Garner holds a Doctorate in Collaborative Arts and Chamber Music from the Eastman School of Music, a Master's in Vocal Accompanying and Coaching from Florida State University, and a Bachelor's in Piano Performance from Louisiana State University.
