Dr. Andrew Hannon is an assistant professor of music composition and theory in the Hayes School of Music at Appalachian State University. Dr. Hannon's compositions have been performed throughout the United States at the International Trombone Festival, ClarinetFest, International Saxophone Symposium, and College Music Society conferences. His musical life is a combination of diverse influences and alternates between moments of violence and serenity, creating elements of tension that are often reflected in conceptual elements. In addition to musical tension, he incorporates various uses of technology as an aesthetic statement.
His research has concentrated on the analysis of Ligeti's music as well as pedagogical research in the area of aural skills and music composition.
