Please see the attached information regarding the Symphony of the Mountains' upcoming concert on January 29 and 30. Student are admitted free with ID to performances of the Symphony, which features many HSoM colleagues, alumni, and students.

- Guest artist organist Bill Greene performs in recital on Tuesday, January 19, at 8 pm, in Rosen.
- The Double Bass/String Music Education Search Committee will meet on Thursday, January 21, at 3 pm, in the Conference Room.
- The Orchestra Search Committee will meet on Friday, January 22, at 11 am, in the Conference Room.
- Friday, January 22, is the day we will celebrate the anniversary of Ms. Mariam Cannon Hayes's 100th birthday during/after Performance Seminar, 1-2 pm.
- The HSoM Curriculum and Assessment Committee meets Tuesday, January 26, at noon.
Looking Ahead
- The HSoM Endowed Scholarship Recital occurs Thursday, January 28, at 8 pm, in the Recital Hall.
- Saturday, January 30, is the HSoM's third audition day for selecting the incoming class for Fall 2016.
- Dean's Advisory Council meets on Tuesday, February 2, at 11 am.
- The HSoM "Faculty Potpourri" concert occurs Tuesday, February 2, at 8 pm, in Rosen.
- Dean's Student Advisory Council meets Wednesday, February 3, at 5 pm.
- The HSoM full faculty meets on Friday, February 5, at 11 am. Among other agenda items, Cannon Music Camp director James Daugherty will provide an update on CMC 2016.
HSoM On the Road and Around Campus (upcoming)
- HSoM faculty oboist Alicia Chapman, musicologist Reeves Shulstad, and pianist Jonathan Asbell, '13, will present Wonders and Woodwinds, a concert of fairy tales, fables and classical music. This is the inaugural event for "Mini Matinees: A music and theatre series for families" presented by the Blowing Rock Art & History Museum on Sunday, January 24th at 2 pm. (Snow date: January 31st)
Kudos and Other News and Events
- HSoM M.M. Performance-Conducting student Onsby Rose's article entitled "Friendship and Discovery In a Summer on the Road" was published in the January edition of The Instrumentalist. The article describes what he learned last summer participating in four conducting symposiums throughout the country.
