Fox was promoted to associate professor in 1975 and retired in 1979. She was chief faculty marshal for the 1979 commencement and was honored with emerita status by the Board of Trustees in 1982.
In her retirement years, Fox has been very active. She spent one year (1979-80) in Russellville, Arkansas, taking care of her mother. She now lives in Boone but spends her winters in Arizona and Arkansas.
