Announcements, March 6, 2017

This back-and-forth season (nearly 70 degrees last Wednesday, snow Friday morning) leads us to Appalachian's Spring Break. First we'll enjoy two highlight concerts—the annual Women Composers Concert on Monday, and guest jazz artist Miguel Zenon on Tuesday. (See EVENTS for details.)  Then, a break in the action for March 11-19; March 20 brings the start of the last seven weeks of semester classes—and we accelerate toward Commencement.

The annual Women Composers Concert occurs Monday, March 6, at 8 pm, in Rosen. 

The Miguel Zenon Jazz Quartet performs Tuesday, March 7, at 8 pm, in the Schaefer Center. $$

March 11-19 is Appalachian's Spring Break. Classes will resume on Monday, March 20.

 

LOOKING AHEAD 

Collegium Music performs Friday, March 24, at 8 pm, in the Recital Hall.

Steely Pan Band performs Sunday, March 26, at 3 pm, in the Schaefer Center.

HSoM faculty clarinetist Andrea Cheeseman performs Sunday, March 26, at 6 pm, in the Recital Hall. 

The spring HSoM "Faculty Gala Concert" occurs Tuesday, March 28, at 8 pm, in Rosen.

The NILE PROJECT will be in residence at Appalachian from Sunday, April 2, through Tuesday, April 4. A final concert will occur Tuesday evening (4/4) at 8 pm in the Schaefer Center. $$

KUDOS AND OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS

Music Education alumnus Trevor Nelson, '13, is a finalist for the Teaching Assistant Prize for Excellent Teaching at The Eastman School of Music.  Nelson started his Ph.D. in musicology at Eastman in 2016 after completing his masters in musicology at Michigan State.
