HSoM Colleagues,
A few additional announcements for this week:
**University Communications provides opportunities one day each month for faculty and staff to update their headshots for the website or other uses. Please consider updating yours, especially if it's more than five years old. The next days for headshots are Monday, November 7 and Thursday, December 1.
No appointment is necessary. Drop in to the studio—143 Anne Belk Hall (enter through glass door that faces Smith Wright Hall) between 9 - 11:30 a.m. or 1:30 - 4 p.m. Please know that there may be a wait, especially if groups or departments arrive at once. All images are shot to iPad, and each person can pick their preferred shot on the spot. Please note we can’t accommodate students during these sessions.
**Attached is a poster for next week's Music as Politics symposium featuring HSoM ethnomusicologist Laurie Semmes.
**As an ASU representative to the UNC Faculty Assembly, Reeves Shulstad has participated in providing feedback on the UNC Board of Governors' draft of the Strategic Plan for the UNC system. If you have not yet done so, please participate in the strategic planning survey and/or the Open forum in Plemmons Student Union Rooms 137 A-B (Calloway Peak/MacRae Peak) on Wednesday, Nov. 9, from 2-4 p.m. The chair of the UNC Faculty Assembly has let us know that the Board of Governors are interested in working with faculty on this process, so our input from a creative/academic point of view is needed to provide a balanced set of faculty perspectives.
**Wednesday, November 16 brings the University's day-long Appalachian Global Symposium. See the following link for information regarding the day's activities. https://international.appstate.edu/get-involved/appalachian-global-symposium
