Announcements, May 16, 2017

A rainy Friday did not dampen the celebration as we reveled in the achievements of our more-than-seventy graduating seniors and master's degree candidates. Commencement marked the end of the 2016-17 academic year, another brilliant season of music making of all kinds here in the Hayes School of Music.

LOOKING AHEAD

ASU Summer Session I begins Tuesday, May 30.

Cannon Music Camp begins Saturday, June 24.

ASU Summer Session II begins Thursday, July 6.

Classes begin Tuesday, August 22, for the 2017-18 academic year.

KUDOS AND OTHER NEWS AND EVENTS

As he celebrates the end of three years here in Boone, HSoM faculty composer Ben Hjertmann has received word from the Provost's Office of his appointment to a second term as assistant professor.

Six long-time HSoM colleagues have been promoted, effective in the 2017-18 academic year, to the rank of full-time Lecturer:  pianist Junie Cho, contralto Mary Gayle Greene, music theorist and composer Andrew Hannon, pianist Christina Hayes, music historian and pianist Melissa Lesbines, and jazz guitarist Andy Page.

Once again, HSoM colleagues submitted 100% of final grades before the deadline. Congratulations to all, especially associate dean Jay Jackson for monitoring our end-of-semester process.

With best wishes for these next weeks, looking forward to my next announcements in late June,

Bill
