Tyler Dellaperute is a lecturer of piano at Appalachian State University's Hayes School of Music, where he teaches class piano, provides applied lessons, and accompanies students in solo and ensemble contexts. Beyond his academic role, Tyler also serves as the keyboardist, backup vocalist, and choir director at the Temple of the High Country, arranging and performing both contemporary and traditional Jewish music. Tyler is also the pianist at First Presbyterian Church in Boone, where he performs original hymn arrangements. During the summer months, Tyler tunes pianos and entertains with cocktail jazz at country clubs.
A classically trained pianist with a knack for improvisation and playing by ear, Tyler is known for his versatility across genres, including classical, sacred, jazz, and pop/rock genres. His performance of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto, Mvt. 3 won him the runner-up position in the 2021 Concerto-Aria Competition at the Hayes School of Music. In the spring of 2022, Tyler was inducted into the Cratis D. Williams Honor Society, awarded to the top 2% of degree-earning graduate students in a given term at Appalachian State University. Tyler won second prize for the 2023 International Collaborative Piano Competition at the Puerto Rico Center for Collaborative Piano.
Tyler holds a B.A. in Music at Cedarville University (2020) and a M.M. in Performance at Appalachian State University (2022).
