Bachelor of Music in Music Education
The Bachelor of Music in Music Education degree provides skilled musicians the opportunity to develop expertise in the classroom, ensemble and private studio in preparation for careers and state certification as public music school teachers and directors.
This degree has three concentrations:
- General Music
- Instrumental
- Choral
With approximately 150 students, the Bachelor of Music in Music Education is the Hayes School of Music's largest degree program. It serves the state and the region with outstanding professionals who advance the art of music making among our youth.
Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies
The Bachelor of Science in Music Industry Studies degree provides skilled musicians with opportunities to develop expertise as professionals who will work in the $70 billion music industry. Music Industry Studies has more than 100 students and is the Hayes School of Music's second largest degree program.
Our graduates serve the state, region and nation as outstanding professionals who advance the art of music making within a business context.
Music Industry Studies embraces the entrepreneurial spirit while addressing specific areas of:
- recording arts
- music technology
- arts management
- artist management and promotion
- music merchandising
- musical instrument manufacturing
Bachelor of Music in Music Performance
The Bachelor of Music in Music Performance degree provides skilled musicians with opportunities to develop expertise as professional performers or composers of solo, chamber and large ensemble music; as directors and performers of church music; or as university-level faculty following graduate study.
There are four concentrations within the Bachelor of Music in Music Performance degree program:
- Instrumental
- Vocal
- Sacred Music
- Composition and Theory
- Jazz Studies
Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy
The Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy degree provides skilled musicians with opportunities to develop expertise to use music within a therapeutic relationship to meet the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals as board-certified music therapists.
The program's approximately 55 students come to Appalachian from throughout the U.S. and serve the region and nation in professional health care and special education settings.
