Kati Connelly and Amy Lazar from the Counseling Center, who presented information at last week's retreat regarding depression among our students, have forwarded the following URLs that lead to additional information and resources:

This coming Saturday, we will celebrate the accomplishments of approximately thirty HSoM undergraduates and master's degree candidates who will receive their diplomas at the December Commencement ceremony.  Then, the HSoM and much of the University will be very quiet till classes resume for the spring semester on January 17.  Here's wishing everyone a joyous holiday season in these next weeks, with all best wishes for the new year 2017!

We're in our last three class days of the semester. Final performances include the Appalachian Chorale on Tuesday, Gospel Choir on Wednesday, and our annual Holiday Scholarship Concert on Saturday. Also on Saturday, we'll begin the year's process of auditioning prospective students to join us in the fall class of 2017.  (See EVENTS for details.)

This week brings just two class days before students and faculty take a break for Thanksgiving, and the University will be closed Thursday-Sunday, November 24-27. Then we enjoy the semester's last class days, and we look forward to our annual Holiday Scholarship Concert on Saturday, December 3.

I was asked recently what makes me feel proudest about the Hayes School of Music. I replied that it's our ability to live up to our values, as expressed in the HSoM values statement:  "The Hayes School of Music fosters a caring, respectful, and inclusive community..." We accomplish that in so many ways, and I trust that students, faculty, staff, alumni, and our many friends will always seek to uphold that vision.
