ASO Violin Seating Auditions - Saturday, August 17, 2024, from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm, Room 313, Broyhill Music Center. Students should prepare either the Violin I or Violin II excerpts - as they prefer. OPTIONAL concertmaster excerpts can be found on pg. 4 of Violin I, for those who also wish to audition for that position. Sign up for your audition here. Choral Ensembles Audition Information
Choral ensembles auditions will take place on Sunday, August 18, 2024, from noon - 7 pm in Dr. DaVaughn Miller's Office (Room 218).
University Singers: There is no audition for returning University Singers members. New students should sign up for an audition* time slot.
Treble Choir: There is no audition for returning Treble Choir members. New singers should sign up for a vocal assessment* time slot.
Gospel Choir and Appalachian Chorale: No audition is required.
*The Fall 2024 chorale audition and vocal assessment process will consist of a series of vocal exercises designed to evaluate your memory, intonation, tone quality, and tessitura (range). During your audition, we will also briefly discuss your previous musical and choral experience and how participation in this ensemble aligns with your personal musical goals. Additionally, your skills in sight-reading melody and rhythm will be assessed. Finally, you will be asked to perform an a cappella excerpt that showcases your virtuosity and skill set.
Please come prepared to do your best, and plan to arrive approximately 5 minutes before your audition time. If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact Dr. DaVaughn Miller at millerdl@appstate.edu.
Jazz Combo Audition
Saturday, August 17, 1:00-3:00 pm, Room 303 (Dr. Adam Booker's office), Broyhill Music Center. This is a requirement for MUS 1107 sections 101 and 102.
