Closure

Have children describe the life of Appalachian Mountain children, working, singing, playing and listening to tales. Ask children to identify what kinds of songs we would sing in each situation.

Evaluation

Children discuss song differences and elements of music contained within song. Look for identification of "Churning Song" for work, because the words are about churning butter, which was hard work (e.g."Swapping Song" for singing, "Among the Little White Daisies" as a singing game for fun).
